UAE PR; Dubai PR and Abu Dhabi PR

Public Relations – PR – is something that can be both extremely beneficial to a business, or completely disastrous as any company that has been on the receiving end of bad PR will attest – ask United Airlines about that! With such a huge potential for gain and loss, it’s not surprising that many businesses enlist the help of professional companies to help them with their PR. One such company offering PR services, amongst a range of others it can provide, is Driving Growth based in Dubai.

Proactive and Reactive Activities
What can companies like Driving Growth do to ensure positive PR for their clients?  There are a number of proactive activities that can be undertaken, as well as those reactive ones we often see on both mainstream and social media.

Different Initiatives
Articles and media releases can be prepared and distributed across the range of media available through media contacts, dependant on the subject matter. Interviews and editorials are created and published, industry awards are contributed to and lobbying is done with the relevant parties.  Of course,Dubai PR events are organised and managed by the PR company as well.

Crisis Management
In terms of the more reactive activities, a good PR company will work with clients in crisis management handling.  It will help the company communicate with the media, and the public, in such a way as to minimize, and hopefully neutralize, the negative aspects of any crisis. This is one of the most important aspects of the work of a PR company because crisis situations tend to be the most visible because they are perhaps more newsworthy than some of the other activities they undertake.

Recent PR Disasters
In order to emphasize how important PR can be, it’s worth taking a very brief look at some recent PR disasters.  In April 2017, United Airlines saw its value drop by around $1 billion following the perceived poor handling of the aftermath of a situation involving a passenger being removed from a flight. A year before, in April 2016 music legend Prince passed away. Cheerios, the breakfast cereal company, decided it would be a good idea to capitalize on this by releasing a tweet with a condolence message, including the distinctive O from their Cheerios product.  It wasn’t such a great idea after all, with Prince fans jumping on the insensitivity of the company.  Samsung, with their Galaxy Note 7 problems, and Wells Fargo, with their fake customer account scandal, were just two more of the PR disasters to unfold in the past year or so.
